I don't suppose I've blogged much about the books I read; at least I don't recall having done any such thing. So here it is... I hope I don't bore you.
I'm currently reading 'Hearts in Atlantis', a book I borrowed from Yingzhi ages ago... probably almost a year ago I think. Anyway, I started reading it a few days ago, for lack of reading material. I guess I can't really relate to the book, 'cause it's set mainly in the 60s, and deals largely with the Vietnam War and it's effects on the youth in America. I am trying to finish it though; there's some stuff that intrigued me. Perhaps I might like it more after I've finished it, perhaps not.
My current favourite book is 'The Time Traveler's Wife', a book about a man who time travels as a type of genetic disease. His wife first met him when she was six, and he was thirty-six; he first met her when he was twenty-eight, and she twenty. Sounds pretty confusing, I know, and the book is rather tedious to get through at times, but if you stick to it I reckon you'll come away with something profound... heh.
Something that I liked a while before reading 'The Time Traveler's Wife' is 'The Lovely Bones'. It's a book about this twelve, thirteen-year-old girl who is raped and killed. The narration is from her viewpoint, where she lives in a type of heaven. She follows her family as they grow up and mature, and even her killer too. It sounds unreal, but the writing was pretty convincing. (Cindy, I hope you like it! Heh.)
One book I quite liked in around 2003 is 'The Hours'. It deals with three women: Virginia Woolf on the day she conceives her book 'Mrs Dalloway', Laura Brown on the day she starts to read the book, and Clarissa Vaughan living a modern version of the day Clarissa Dalloway lives in the book. The three stories are interwoven together quite beautifully, and the connection between these three women is far bigger than you originally imagine.
I don't think I can really recall anymore adult books, but some books for children and teenagers are on my shelf as well. Heh I think I'll just end here, and perhaps I'll blog on these books. Hope I didn't bore you... heh.

I know I haven't blogged in quite a while, but bear with me friends... heh.
Anyway, I just got Taufik's album, called 'Blessings'; I don't really have any idea what to make of this title... heh. It's actually a pretty good album, much better than I expected. The production is kinda okay, using quite a bit of synthesised instruments; some songs are a little 'old' sounding. What surprised me, though, was the rap in 'Superstition' - pretty neat! Heh... hey people, buy his album to support Singapore's English music industry ya? I think sales will be pretty influential on future local acts... yup.
Well most, if not all of you who read this blog know that I'd like to join Singapore Idol too, and listening to this album does give me some kinda hope in the local English music industry; that sometime in future I may be doing what he's doing right now.
Oh well, I gotta be bolder if I wanna join... yup. I feel inspired to write songs now... heh. Till next post!
