read my mind

So. Hady won. He is our very own Asian Idol. I can't believe that. He gets an international recording contract, an around-the-world trip to watch the international Idol shows, and naturally bragging rights of being Asia's very first Idol. Can you imagine?

Not to be rude to Hady, I'm really not sure if his votes were won through genuine support; the comments that I heard about him from the judges were lukewarm at best. Because each voting message has to have 2 countries in it, my family's strategy was to vote 5 times, each time with Singapore and a different country... Heh. Apparently that worked in his favour! I'm honestly surprised.

Now, I'm just wondering, what does this do for Singapore's English music industry? Now that our Singapore Idol is going global, does this mean that there will be more attention paid to our local musicians playing in English? We know that the mother tongue music industries of the country are doing relatively well, but the English music scene... growth is slow. Perhaps with Hady's win, there will be a greater focus on the music industry, maybe even a Singapore Idol Season 3. Either way, as an aspiring musician myself, I'm really hoping this win will work wonders for us. Someday...

Congratulations Hady.
