read my mind

Thursday, July 14

Wow. So much has happened in the past few days. I'm not talking about my life; that's been pretty normal and uneventful.

Firstly, the IOC being held in Singapore, which had me pretty intimidated by the amount of policemen walking around in City Hall MRT station. That's as far as it was for me; I didn't enter Raffles City for fear of the hassles and troubles that would be incurred if they'd decided to check my bag.

Then, there were the London blasts, which I think were so wrong... But I've already vented my frustrations in my earlier post, so I shan't talk about it again.

Next, the news about the chairman of our National Kidney Fund using large amounts of donations for personal use. This is probably one of the biggest news in Singapore so far that I can remember. It's really sad to see the stories of so many patients, and then learn that a huge portion of it isn't even going to them. Can you imagine one of them being featured in the charity shows, later realising that the money that people have donated might not be going to them at all? It's incredibly selfish for Mr Durai to want a gold-plated tap in his toilet, while there are so many patients being rejected because the NKF "cannot afford" to provide them aid. It's just sad.

Well, my life these days, as I said, has been pretty boring. Besides going to work as per normal, I've been thinking about my writing. The plot's been going pretty well, but I need to make the story convincing. My characters will need more fleshing out, and plotline will need to flow smoothly. I really hope I can, and will eventually finish it. Whether it's going to be a potential local novel, of a regular piece of trash, at least I will have finished it.

Anyway, I think I need to do some research for a scene I'm writing. Anyone wants to go to a flea market this weekend? Heh... I don't even know where I can find flea markets... some help?
