read my mind

Saturday, October 30

The dinner party post is way, way overdue... still I should like to write about it.

It was a week ago, Saturday. I recall that originally Kaiquan, Howe Yuan and I were supposed to go tanning earlier that day, but apparently it was an unspoken consensus that it'd been called off a while before that day itself. Thankfully it had been cancelled though, because we're now entering the wet season... not a good thing, in my opinion. I like the sun.

Anyway, I arranged to meet Joy at Bishan Bus Interchange, and while I was there, I realised I forgot to eat lunch! Heh... that's a big no-no for me, judging from my gastric condition. So I went to buy a Crunchie from 7-Eleven, where it is grossly over-priced. Haha, I digress. I met Joy anyway, and we made our way to Thomson Plaza on bus 410. Amazingly, Howe Yuan was already there before us... heh. We did quite a bit of grocery shopping, which I must admit, is not an easy task. I also found out that Cindy wasn't going to be in attendance, as she was ill, from a fever I learned later.

So anyway, Yingzhi came a while later, giggling as she usually does... what Howe Yuan calls 'am chio' (I think), and then Jeanette, who bought some wine glasses. Kaiquan was a little late, so he'd go on his own. What a coincidence; we met him on the bus, and he was asleep. We all stared at him till he woke up... hehe.

Anyway, once at Jeanette's house we pretty much got down to work. The cooking process was kinda fun, and funny too; 5 of us were all crowded in the kitchen trying to do stuff. We realised that we'd probably left the cordial for the drinks at the supermarket, so we had to make do with the stuff that was there. So basically, we cooked, and then dinner was served.

The menu:
Salad (I forget exactly what vegetables were in it, but there was shrimp, grapes, apples, chicken ham, chopped onions and a little more)
Fried Chicken with Honey and Barbecue Sauce
Fried Salmon Fillet
Rosti with Chopped Onions

For drinks, some of them drank white wine, some of them drank a vodka cocktail, and me? Apple juice. Hehe. I don't drink, and probably shouldn't; it could be bad for my stomach.

Anyway, by the end of the night, everyone was kinda drunk and high already... and though I didn't drink, I got kinda high, and actually said some stuff I usually wouldn't say... heh. When it was time to leave, though, some stuff came up, which I'll not divulge here. All in all, the night was a success, and although the bill came up to rather high, I think we were all rather proud of ourselves for having accomplished this. I'm hoping for more to come, which will make us rather good cooks at the end of it all... heh.

This ends my entry on the dinner party. I'm thinking of trying to do topics as entries, just some thoughts on some stuff. The first thing that I'm considering is the Everytime music video by Britney... sounds silly I know, but that video is quite an interesting one. She does not commit suicide in it, by the way... heh.

I'd better copy this text... before Blogger turns the post into a blank one.

Blogger's kinda off... this post came out blank. Anyway, I'm back from Jeanette's place, where we had our dinner party. I came up with some lyrics on the way home, so I'll just post them here first. I'll talk about tonight tomorrow...

We didn't come here to be silent
We didn't come here to be someone we're not
All we can do is just to be ourselves
There shouldn't be a moment where we lie

We've all got crazy things to deal with
But let this be a time we share
There are moments where we smile for each other
There won't be times we won't cry for each other

You've got a friend in me
Let's sing a song, go out of tune, who cares
You've got a friend in me
We'll laugh till we cry, and fall down weeping

Tell me what you think?
