I met some of my BMT (second time) platoon mates yesterday. What a surprise it was. Boon had me thinking for a while that it was just going to be the two of us. He said he wanted to go to HMV to get a Pet Shop Boys CD, which seemed weird to me, but I shrugged it off. When we were at HMV, he headed us to the VCD section, where he picked up Madonna's 'Swept Away'. That was even weirder, and then I saw the rest of them. I thought we'd just met them coincidentally, but it seemed too weird to be true.
We ended up at Killiney Road, having dinner at a sort of coffee shop place. This, I suppose, was my doing; I thought the Italian restaurant was too pricey. Norman and I picked Wei Jie and Renji up at Somerset, catching up along the way. Things are sort of the same, and yet different. Oh well. It was real nice though.
Halfway through dinner, Boon, Kelvin and Xuan Kai disappeared. I did get kind of suspicious, but I didn't realise that they'd been to get a cake for me. And there it was, a lovely chocolatey cake with 2 candles, burning. I made the mistake of saying, 'Don't sing'. They did, of course. Then, Boon handed me a card, made from something like a brochure. It was wonderful. The card is wonderfully crafted, and even has that chip that plays the birthday song! Everyone from my section wrote something for me. I was speechless. The guys who were there paid for dinner too!
Really, I am so thankful that these guys've done so much for me, and I'd never expect such a treatment. Thanks all of you. You've made this weekend a wonderful surprise.
